Upcoming Priority Projects

The Montreal Sacré-Cœur Hospital, the Albert-Prévost Mental Health Hospital and the Rivière-des-Prairies Mental Health Hospital are major hospitals at the forefront of medical care. Even with the dedication, expertise, and compassion of physicians, nurses, and other professionals, the needs remain immense. Here are some priority projects that your donations could help support and fund:

The Integrated Renal Support Centre

The renovation of the Emergency Department at Albert-Prévost Mental Health Hospital

The creation of research chairs to improve patient care

The Integrated Renal Support Centre

Let’s improve renal replacement therapy care.

Following the construction of the Integrated Trauma Centre and the new Nuclear Medicine Department, we are nurturing another dream for Sacré-Cœur: modernizing the renal replacement therapy unit. This is a major project aimed at better meeting the needs of the hundreds of patients who rely on dialysis treatments at Sacré-Cœur.

This unit plays a central role in the daily lives of these patients, who spend 12 hours per week undergoing dialysis. This project will have significant impacts:

  • A comfortable, calm, safe environment tailored to each patient’s needs
  • A 20% increase in treatment capacity
  • Optimized space and equipment to support the work of care teams

A complete modernization of the facilities will significantly improve the quality of life of dialysis patients. Join us in bringing this vision to life—one that will truly change lives.

Renovation of the Emergency Department at Albert-Prévost Mental Health Hospital

Let’s make mental health care more accessible for everyone

For many patients, entering through the emergency department of Albert-Prévost Mental Health Hospital marks the beginning of their mental health care journey. We therefore wish to redevelop this area, along with certain spaces at Albert-Prévost, to better welcome patients. Each year, the patients and visitors who come here deserve a reassuring and private environment for this first, crucial encounter with mental health professionals. This project will deliver three major benefits:

  • More calming and private spaces for patients
  • Certain services brought closer together to reduce patient travel and ensure better continuity of care
  • A more welcoming environment for families and loved ones

As mental health needs are being felt more than ever, the reorganizing of the emergency department at Albert-Prévost must be carried out quickly. Join us in transforming the way mental health patients are welcomed!

Creation of Research Chairs to Improve Patient Care

Sacré-Cœur researchers have big dreams for the future of research and the health of our community. They aspire to push boundaries in the Hospital’s areas of excellence, which include traumatology and intensive care.

The work of a research chair leads to tangible outcomes. Here are a few examples:

  • Cutting-edge scientific advancements
  • An exceptional contribution to improving patient care
  • A significant increase and marked improvement in knowledge transfer
  • Greater visibility on the international stage

The Foundation aims to fund the creation of two research chairs over the coming years.

Artificial Intelligence Chair in Traumatology

A landmark achievement focused on the future of health care

Good news: funding for the Chair in Artificial Intelligence has been completed. The next step is to attract an internationally renowned chairholder and to develop advanced algorithms that will provide clinicians with even more powerful tools.

The creation of the Chair in Artificial Intelligence Applied to Traumatology is on the way. This Chair aims to apply artificial intelligence in health care to support expert clinicians in medical decision-making, with the ultimate goal of saving lives.

This achievement will strengthen the Montréal Sacré-Coeur Hospital’s position as a leader in intensive care and traumatology. Once the Chair is established, we will see several major advances that will transform patient care.

The Academic Chair in Advanced Monitoring in Intensive Care

Let’s help intensive care researchers make their mark through advanced monitoring

Sacré-Cœur teams have developed expertise across all areas of critical care. They are constantly seeking new technologies to provide better care for patients with neurological injuries. This innovative approach to neurological intensive care, combined with Sacré-Cœur experts’ specialization in advanced neuromonitoring, has given rise to a new project: the creation of an Academic Chair in Advanced Monitoring in Intensive Care.

The Academic Chair in Advanced Monitoring will join the Research Chair in Acute Traumatology and the Chair in Artificial Intelligence to foster innovation. How? By supporting the preservation and enhancement of continuously generated physiological data in intensive care units. This wealth of high-quality data will benefit researchers from all three chairs and encourage the development of innovative, cross-sector projects.

Together, these three chairs could become a “star trio” shining on the international stage, helping to attract new, highly experienced experts right here at Sacré-Cœur.
