The entire team of the Montréal Sacré-Cœur Hospital Foundation, made up of volunteers, members of the Board of Directors and the Youth Wing, honorary members, and Foundation staff, gathered to celebrate an important milestone: the Foundation’s 50th anniversary.
Nearly sixty people attended, including Mr. Guy Crevier, one of the founding members of our organization; Ms. Marwah Rizqy, Member of the National Assembly for Saint-Laurent; and several physicians who have worked closely with the Foundation over the years. The evening was an opportunity to celebrate how far the Foundation has come, look ahead to the path still to be forged, and recognize the many acts of generosity and commitment demonstrated over the past 50 years.
Since the Foundation was established in 1976 and even before that, women and men have advanced its mission by contributing their time, expertise, and energy. On the occasion of this 50th anniversary, several individuals who have distinguished themselves through their long-term and sustained contributions to the cause were honored.
Appointment of Three New Honorary Members
Mr. Bernard Pitre, Chairman of the Foundation’s Board of Directors, took the opportunity to announce a decision approved by the Board: the appointment of three new honorary members.
Robert Bastien served on the Board of Directors for 11 years, including 4 years as Chairman. He contributed to the tremendous success of the Lobster and Beef Feast fundraiser, whose last edition was held in 2020, as well as the Montreal Auto Show's Charity Preview event.

Sister Claire Houde faithfully represented the Sisters of Providence within both the Hospital and the Foundation for 32 years. Gifted in financial management, she served on the Foundation’s Board of Directors and chaired the Hospital’s Board.

Yvon Martin served on the Board of Directors for more than 30 years. He helped the Foundation benefit from the strong relationships he built over the years with business leaders and managers, particularly in the advertising industry.

The title of honorary member is awarded in recognition of individuals who have made significant contributions to the Foundation whether through its management, activities, or fundraising campaigns and who have helped foster its growth.
Mr. Pitre also highlighted the commitment of Salvatore Crivello. In 2016, he helped establish the Youth Wing. He dedicated seven years to its development and the recruitment of new members while representing the committee on the Board of Directors.

Recognition Awards Presented by the Member of the National Assembly
Ms. Marwah Rizqy joined the celebration and took advantage of the Foundation’s 50th anniversary year to announce a donation of $5,000 from her discretionary budget to the Foundation. She also presented certificates and a medal from the National Assembly of Quebec.
She wished to recognize individuals who have shaped the Foundation’s history and made a positive and significant impact on the community. It is worth noting that the Montréal Sacré-Cœur Hospital and its Foundation are located within the constituency she represents. She presented National Assembly certificates to six outstanding volunteers.
Dr. Jean-Luc Malo initiated the Foundation’s Art Collection, which now includes more than 350 works displayed at the Montréal Sacré-Cœur Hospital and Albert-Prévost Mental Health Hospital. An art enthusiast, Dr. Malo has volunteered on the Foundation’s Art Committee since the collection was created in 2013.
Guy Crevier is a discreet but essential figure in the history of the Montréal Sacré-Cœur Hospital Foundation and one of its six founding members. As a trusted advisor to the Sisters of Providence, he supported the organization’s evolution from its earliest days, when no fundraising activities yet existed. Over the years, this trained accountant took on many roles and helped structure and professionalize the Foundation.
Deeply influenced by the values of the Sisters of Providence, he remains guided by a simple and unwavering conviction: every donation should directly benefit patients. After more than 60 years of service, Mr. Crevier remains a pillar of memory, continuity, and generosity, a builder whose commitment has contributed significantly to the Foundation’s success.

Ms. Jocelyne Leroux, Mr. Marcel Caya, Mr. Pierre Chaussée, and Ms. Suzanne Gingras each have more than 20 years of volunteer service to their credit.

For the Leroux family, compassion and altruism are a family tradition. Jocelyne Leroux’s daughter, Nadine, has worked at the Foundation for 23 years and has been involved in philanthropy since completing her studies. She remains driven by a strong desire to advance the Foundation’s mission.
Ms. Rizqy invited Mrs. Leroux to join her in presenting a National Assembly medal to Nadine. Other family members, including her husband and son, were by her side as she received this honor. A video message was also shown to the audience, in which Catherine Gentilcore, Member of the National Assembly for Terrebonne, where Nadine resides, congratulated her on this distinction and thanked her for her years of service, loyalty, and contributions to her community.
Mr. Pitre and Julie Pouliot, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Foundation, then cut the anniversary cake. The evening concluded on this festive and delightful note.

This moment of celebration was an opportunity to honour the commitment of those who have left a lasting mark on the Foundation's history. Having recognized everything that has been built over the past 50 years, we now look to the future—and to all that we can still accomplish alongside our volunteers and donors for the patients of Montreal Sacré-Cœur Hospital, Albert-Prévost Mental Health Hospital and Rivière-des-Prairies Mental Health Hospital.
