The Foundation's Board of Directors is proud to announce the appointment of two new honorary members: Mr. André Martin and Mr. Michel Bourgeois. This decision was ratified at the Board meeting held on May 28. These two exceptional individuals join a prestigious group now composed of 35 honorary members, all recognized for their remarkable contribution to the Foundation's mission.
A prestigious title for exemplary commitment
The title of Honorary Member is awarded to anyone who has provided significant assistance to the Foundation's management, activities, or fundraising campaigns. It recognizes exceptional commitment and dedication that have enabled the Foundation to shine within the community. This title is often awarded to former members of the Board of Directors in recognition of their years of service.
André Martin: A Loyal Business Volunteer
A former executive at RBC Royal Bank, Mr. André Martin served on the Foundation's Board of Directors from 2003 to 2024. A committed and passionate man, he particularly distinguished himself as co-chair of the organizing committee for the Foundation's Golf Tournament, which he led with his friend, Mr. Robert Bouchard.
Under their leadership, this fundraising event achieved impressive longevity, celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2024. Among his notable achievements is the exceptional mobilization he generated, notably when he convinced his wife, Ms. Micheline Martin, to chair the tournament four times. Thanks to their commitment, more than $1 million was raised during these four editions, contributing to a total of more than $5 million generated by the event since its inception.
A rigorous, committed and convincing man, Mr. Martin has successfully combined his love of golf with a keen business sense, creating lasting bonds with his colleagues and friends on the board of directors.

Michel Bourgeois: A negotiator with a big heart
A lawyer by training, Michel Bourgeois joined the Foundation in 2006 before becoming Chairman of the Board of Directors from 2011 to 2018. Known for his commitment to challenges and generosity, he made his mark in 2012 by co-chairing a memorable fundraising expedition: the ascent of Island Peak in Nepal, alongside cardiologist Érick Schampaert.
This adventure, in which 12 participants took part, raised over $130,000 for the Foundation, while also contributing to research on cardiac and pulmonary function at altitude, thanks to the involvement of two participating researchers.
A seasoned professional, Mr. Bourgeois worked at Canadair and then at Bombardier, where he was a key player in strategic negotiations and aircraft financing. Even after his term as president, he remained actively involved, notably in the revision of the human resources policy and within the strategic planning committee formed in 2024.

An indelible mark
The departure of Mr. Martin and Mr. Bourgeois in 2024 certainly leaves a void, but above all, a lasting mark on the Foundation's history. Their leadership, generosity, and constant commitment have been sources of inspiration for our entire community.
Thank you, gentlemen, for these years of exceptional service and for having so elegantly embodied the core values of our mission.
